Forum Members,

Poor Hal just has no luck at all.

He and Rosie came home from work today to the smell of smoke and found they had been hit again.

This time it got Computer, Fridge, Radios & Equipment and about everything else.

It may be a little while before he can get everything back up as Insurance man is suppossed to be there tomorrow.

I will keep everyone updated as to his progress in getting back on the Forum and on the Air.

No Radios, No Computer = NO Copper Forum & NO Echo Link and phone went out when we were talking.

Lets all wish and pray he has a FAST ACTING and UNDERSTANDING INSURANCE ADJUSTER!

Lon

Wow, what terrible luck, with the personal relationship Hal has with lightning sure wouldnt want to be close to him in a storm!
Hal if you get a chance to get on line some where, keep your chin up, you will get through this one too!!

Awwwwww dude!!! That is horrible!!
Kinda why my antenna is unhooked even if im gone for a few hours and theres the slightest chance of storms. Nothing like having the sick feeling in your gut that you are away from home and there are storms in your area and theres nothing you can do.

I'm sort of new to the forum & I do not know Hal or Rosie, but, i want to wish them all the luck in the world & hopefully they get things replaced quickly.
Lightning is something!
About 5 years ago i was at my moms, we were outside watching it storm. Then, a big bolt of lightning hit the neighbors house, it blew a big
hole in the side of there house. Exposing the upstairs of there home. Did lots of damage to there yard also....SCARY! Gave me a new respect for lightning strikes! JIM

Just talked with Hal and it appears his Insurance Agent is going to help as Everything was wiped out.

LOOK OUT COPPER FOR A BIGGGGGGGGG ORDER!

RADIOS / AMP / COAX / JUMPERS / METERS / ANTENNA SWITCHES / IMAX 2000.

Sorry we can't help with the Computer part.

Hal and Rosie said to tell EVEYONE HI!

And hopefully very soon Hal and Rosie will be back on the Air again and Echo Link.

How can amateur station equipment best be protected from lightning damage?
Disconnect all equipment from the power lines and antenna cables

Im back,I want to thank you all for your support. Thanks again my freinds.Doint let anyone tell you lighting dose not strike the same place twice. Its been 3 times for me ,But im not out yet.I look at this way (no one was hurt).Im on a old Toshiba Tecra laptop that has a dead battery,That is a pain to reload every time i turn it on.From now on everything gets unpluged when not used.
Again Thank you all for the thoughts and Prayer
