Whats New? It has been re-designed with several smaller power supplies and fans mounted inside instead of the BIG HEAVY Power Supply that the older models had for better cooling and performance. Capt_hook, Yes, this does make it better. It is not as heavy as the older 2995DX radios with HUGE Power supply was and with smaller power supplies with fans inside cooling them you no longer need to purchase the External Ranger Fan Kit which mounted on the rear of the radio and cooled the heat sink to help keep it running cool. And it is a lot quieter with the dual fans mounted inside than the big external fan kit was. The only thing I see wrong with internal fans is ya got to pull air from outside somehow. That means dirt and dust inside your radio. I just ordered one from Ranger and they are back ordered till May. |

Hi, I've had mine for about four months and its great, no problems, I also got a small 2 pill box to run with it, but the radio does so well I very seldom turn it on. Copper tuned the radio for me and its the best swinging radio I've ever had. Turned down it keys 2 watts and swings 125 plus. I can get it to key 90 and swing to 150. I've got a lot of different items from Copper but they did an outstanding job on this one. And no I don't work for Copper. Scooter |

Tech808, According to Ranger they are now using 1446 pills in it now instead of the 2290's. They are the same overall but I would rather have the 2290's myself. I am still fussing with getting the 2950DX/2995DX's to get the audio up like the other radios. Still seems compressed. Any ideas? Thunderbolt

Thunderbolt, I would suggest doing a Alignment to the radio to make sure that it is set to factory specifications. Personally I have never had any problem's with my or other's audio that I have heard sounding compressed/distorted on the 2950,2970DX,2990 and 2995DX and not hitting 100% modulation when saying FOURRRRRRRRR into the factory mic unless the radio was out of alignment. You may just need to do a factory alignmnet and make sure that everything is set correctly to factory secification's. CLICK HERE > Alignment Procedures Hope this help's, Lon ~ Tech808 ~ N9CEF CEF#808 ~ CEF HAM#33 ~ CVC#002 10-10 #61493 ~ 10-10 VP#2688 Tech808@copperelectronics.com
