Dang, Biker that's a 'long term investment', some of those Enron people might have grabbed those. ha, I wouldn't be surprised if someone buys them, they are Sylvana greens, they don't make those anymore. I can't remember what RF amps used those, one of the JB's I think. They are a very popular Audio tube, and the Audio Amps are making a big comeback. You can buy new 8417's for around 40-50 bucks. They are manufacturing most all the Audio tubes again, mostly overseas. Now if they would just start on the 2057s and 8950s. I looked at the 2057s you found yesterday, they were a little high for no more than he was saying about'um, for me anyway. Some of those people kinda do the double-talk on their items, huh. |

I know ....some of the adds make me laugh..they know if it works or not...I e-mail on every item I want...so if it is bad or if there double talking me I usally pick up on it....KNOCK WOOD I have yet to be burnt... I see a lot of things that wouldd be nice to have, and maybe make a few dollars. But I usally only buy what i can use or want to replace...I used to smoke...and I never realized what it did to equipment...so in the last yr or so I have replace many items just for the fact that I no longer smoke....Does anyone know the best wat to clean ...lets say an amp(interceptor 101) amp that is like totally discusting inside...it is and was in excellent working shape...but after six yrs of sitting in the open exposed to smoke,dust, and God only knows what else it looks like things might be growing in there....but it works!!! I was wondering if there is something that can be sprayed on the entire thing (boards and all *minus the tubes of course*) to clean it up?...Thanks all...OHhhhh Bruce, this is kind of directed to you....LOL...you seem to know a lot about everything!...and this is not a slam...if I see somehting you post I make sure to read it in detail....thanks...~OHIOBIKER~575~ |

Ummm throw it in the bathtub and wash it up.. NO KIDDING!!!
I knew a guy that did that to an old Siltronics and yes that was how he cleaned it up~! |

Ohio Biker, get a can of electrical contact cleaner at your local automotive supply store, should be about 5 bucks (I'm sure you know exactly what this is because I bet you've used a bunch on your hog). Don't spray the internal stuff directly because it comes out under some serious pressure. Instead, spray a little bit into the cap that came on the can, and then use a 15 cent acid brush (or toothbrush) to gently apply and scrub the dirty parts. It will evaporate quickly, so try to be quick. But since it does evaporate so quickly, there will be no residue that is left over, and by brushing it on instead of spraying it, you won't spray anything into any relays or anything else that moves thereby preventing any problems with future adjusments.
