A Friend Gave Me A Old Wilson 1000 Mag mount. The End Was Kind of bent on the wip so I Straightened it out. I put it on my suv And Checked Swr. And The lowest i can get is a 1:1.8. I Tried Adusting the length of the wip on the base but thats the lowest swr's i can get and its all the way down at the base. Any Suggestions. Thanks Tyler |

Tyler try this if you can get a pice of stiff wire as long as the wip replace the wip with the wire mount it exacty as your going to use it and cut 1/4 inch pieces off the wire if the VSWR dosnt come down or even goes back up it could be that mag mount Bruce |

Hey Tyler, without knowing the station setup,i.e. what radio equipment your powering into the coax where on the SUV did you stick the W1000?Try to midmount it if you have not already done so,to obtain a good groundplane and on what channel did you achieve the lowest SWR,IF it was on CH1 the whip is to long If it were on CH40 the whip be to short. Also try runnning a ground strap to your transmitting equipment.Check the coax cable for kinks or compression marks and change if obvious damage. Sometimes you have to cut the whip a little bit to quite a bit. Maybe the whip was already cut too short. |
