Well,Everybody I have decided to sell out. No, before we get started,I have'nt been offended, had a post refused or any of the other myriad reasons that people post on this subject. The simple reason is I have finally lost interest or more to the point my interests have moved in different directions. The local traffic on the radio is non existent and the CEF net just does not seem to be enough to justify keeping all this stuff around. The motorcycle, softball and a few other hobbies have more and more taken precedence until it seems a waste to simply hold on to the equipment and not use it. I want to take this chance to thank Copper, all the Techs, and the other members for everything I have learned or got here. Although I don't plan to be on the air much anymore I will be keeping up the tower and will likely hook up the old Madison of my Dads to turn on occassionally so maybe you folks will still here me and I'll still try to stay on for the net as often as possible and I'll still check in here some. |

Bullseye, we sure do hate to lose you, but I guess I am resigned to the fact that this is a hobby, and hobbies change for us all over time. (Sigh), reality tells me that this is just life. I would ask though that I have seen so many people get out of this hobby for years at a time (I am guilty), only to get back into it years later. If it's worth money, don't sell your equipment for pennies. If there are thoughts of "maybe down the road", pack it away organized and we'll talk in a few years. I hate to see you go Bullseye, but to look on the bright side, this friendly adios is so much better than "I am dying of cancer......". I'll be listening for you in the future. I've enjoyed all the previous conversations. Until our paths cross again, I understand you will be 10-7. Alsworld, we are 10-10 |

I suggest you wait a set certain amount of days. Like wait 90 days. See if you feel the same. Everytime I sell something, it never fails.... 6 months later I'm wondering why I did that? |

Bullseye I pretty much second what Al said. However, I wouldn't be so quick to sell your radio equipment. Just pack it up and store it. Then when the bug hits you again, it will all be there waiting for you to fire it up again. Jeff. |

Please just store your stuff because 3 years down the road you don't know if you will have any interest in talking on your radio. I just don't want you to regret it Taz |

I agree. I have taken a self imposed 3 month time away from the radio. Did not turn it on, only lurked in the mobile, listening only. Yesterday, I turned my stuff on and it was like a whole new world...again!! Put it away, hide it from yourself, put it in a closet, whatever. It is a site lot cheaper to do that than have to start over. 73 de KB5LPA |

Bullseye I was there not to allful long ago. I had decided not to renew my license had talked to many of my radio friends about selling out also seemed I never had time for radio, you know I dont have time NOW but I do anyway. My friendships kept me from quiting I may never get back to were I was But I will be on the air when I want. Hate to see ya go, good folks are few and far between so like 346 said I would wait a bit. But whatever you decide it was fun and take care! |

The conditions will change one day, Bullseye, and you will be able to reach all kinds of stations. I think you will regret selling out. As the Supremes said in their song, Stop in the name of love....think it over..." Mikefromms |

He will not regret selling his equipment, ryan, when the next cycle comes he'll do like me hopefully and upgrade,I haven't been in radio non-stop,there was a break that's where I came by my TCR-87 and .50 sharps(both rifles)then got back into radios(and into the copper forum).I'm thinking of dusting off the old girls but I won't leave the forum,I mean WHY do most people think you gotta have a radio or be talkin on one all the time to be here, this place is a gas.Bigbob |

This is normal. WE all have our ups and downs. I go out of town frequently and get out of the habit of being on the air. When I return sometimes I don't touch my gear for 2 weeks or so. Then it hits me again and I'm back at it. Any hobby, job, profession will have peaks and valleys, it's human nature. Just ride it out, take a break and your interest will return. Radio takes away from nothing, you can be on air at home, while driving, I've got a unit in my office to break up the day and I've got lots of other hobbies also. To me radio is about like having the cel phone, or computer. Good luck, 392 |

Bullseye do what you think you need to do. If you feel you need to sell your equipment don't regret it. I suggest you keep at least one radio around and the antenna. That way if the bug bites you again, you won't have to wait to get back on the air. I've decided to take a similiar path myself. I will keep the HF radio since I still want to listen to shortwave but the cbs, amp and mics are going to go. Have fun with your new found free time... |

Hey guys Thanks for all the kind words. I won't be out completely though. The old Madison is coming out of retirement and I still have a couple old Grants. I just don't really use the radio as much anymore so a sensible reduction in "ordnance" seems in order. I have a lot of money tied up right now that at the present can better serve me elsewhere. I'll still hit the weekly net and get on for DXing but... To that end THANKS again.I'll keep checking in here so don't forget me |
