In my travels, I will surf the cb channels. I am starting to hear more and more on LSB of channel 36 CB bands. Is anyone else experiencing this as well? Personally, I think it is great. Especially when the turkeys that love to play music or anything else they can do to disrupt lsb channel 38! Just curious. I wish we would all talk more on the UPPER side. I have not ever figured that one out either.

Actually, when the 40-channel radios first came out it was suggested that 36-40 be just for SSB as a gentleman's agreement. Similar to SSB usage on channels 13 and 16 with the old 23 channel radios. Another recommendation was that CH 36L be used as a calling channel, then moving on to 37-40 to carry on any long conversations.

USB is not much better than am. It was a gentleman's agreement that we use 36 - 40 when the 40's came out. Also don't know where anyonbe got 13 and 16. When SSB first came out it was gentleman's agreement to use 16 as call freq and 17 to talk. I've been around since 1966. CB started in 1960.
