I came across an older 2950,
The radio powers up and tx/rx's o.k. so here's the good part.
When you shut off the radio it resets to 27.0150
and the face plate light goes dim,
If you program the memmory it does'nt keep after power off, same with program split it loses it when I turn it off.
Some one installed(poorly) an echo board.
When I tighten the bracket screws to tight the
radio powers up but no tx/rx untill I loosen up
the screws a little.
Also I put in a jumper on the face plate for the
26.0000 to 32.0000 mod but it did not work
so the radio goes 26.0000-29.6950.
Any suggestions besides SMASH IT?

Thanks,

Yep, #1 problem is the back up battery going dead. I'd just remove the echo board from it altogther, that should slove your rx tx issue. If you need echo it's better to use an echo mic with that radio. Good luck with it.
