Hey Bluebird, sorry to hear about that customs charge. I've bought a ton of radios from the U.S. and had then shipped across the Canadian border and never paid customs. If you're in Canada, there is no customs duty payable on the importation of amateur radio equipment. The parcel needs to be clearly marked amateur radio equipment by the seller/shipper. The only price you should pay is tax and if you are unfortunate enough to use a courier like UPS, then they charge a ridiculous brokerage fee. United States Post Office is the way to go when you ship across the border... no crazy fees. Enjoy the radio! Looking forward to a review. |

I hear you, I got burned with UPS one time like that as well! United States Post Office delivery to Canada is top notch in my books. No customs fees if the parcel is clearly marked amateur radio and no brokerage fees. Canada Post expedited post here in Canada is great as well... My S9 is my main radio for ragchewing local on 10 metres. I love mine! |

I have had the s980 nitro for about a year I am enjoying it now after sending it back twice problem was SSB wandering a few hundred KHZ on transmit and a bad wobble audio reports from contacts. It seems to be fixed now getting great reports now and recive is very good hearing weak stations. Am is loud and clear so is SSB.Been making contacts all over the world and in the States. Am I happy with Magnum yes but wish they would have checked it a little better before they sold it. And I do still recommend the S980. |
