Looking at the last post in this section makes me wonder if I am the only one who ever listens to a scanner anymore. I enjoy knowing what is going on in the county I live in. Plus, being a storm spotter for NOAA, I obviously listen during storms. Just curious. Thanks.

APCO digital trunking system here on LI......no desire to spend $600 just to listen. the old days were fun, plugging freqs into the ole bearcat & pressing scan & seeing where & when it stops. not today.

Know that feeling Pat.
Here when a storm comes up I'm listen to 162.550 out of Ruskin, Fl on my ham radio for weather reports. if it was still like the good old days I would have one in the shack with the others.

Here in Northern Indiana, most police, ambulance, fire, and others, are going to a state-wide digital system. I refuse to drop $400-$500 for a digital scanner just to hear license plate checks. That being said, I WILL continue to use my conventional scanners. There still is a lot of action to be had...By the way have you seen Rat Shack's new I-scan trunk tracker, RS20-107? Totally new concept in scanning!

Hi I have the new Radioshack Pro-107 I do say it is a great scanner, say goodbye to BS programming.it works like and MP3 player.once you try it. it sells it self.everthing is loaded on the included SD memory card,so if you dont like programming a scanner this is the one for you.

Going through some old threads, I ran across this and thought I would bring it up again.

Any of our newer members do any of this? Thanks.
Yes I still do. All the time.

I listen to mine all the time reasons being is I am less that 1/4 mile from the Graham fire department and I am less that 1/2 mile from a explosive plant I want to know where they are headed to so I can get my happy self out if there is a fire at the plant
I have a older radio shack trunking scanner we have no trunking frequencies here
