Bought this on a 'whim' mostly because it was about new condition. Anyone know this radio? |

Jimbob I only know that in the early 70's I bought a Courier Caravlle 11, base 23 channel radio and put a D104 on it and it screams, it has loud modulation, I live above the freeway and put it on the truckers channel at night, and say wake up, and you should hear the remarks. i think your radio came out a little after that, yours should be a real good one. |

Well, I have had time to review the radio. The uPD858 equipped Courier Centurion 40D seems to outperform all my other radios (12 Total). The Robyn 520D seems to have as sensitive a receiver and can actually hear weak signals slightly better when the band is not crowded. As the band gets congested, the Courier is better. This puts the 520D in second place and that is a very good rating! |

Friend, Years ago, when I was just starting the hobby, I accquired a Courier Centurian Base station. It was used, converted and beautiful. It was a great experience. I would not hesitate to pick up another if I had the chance. If it's priced right, go for it. You'll have no regrets. Mike N1EGM |
