I've kinda been looking around for a single polarity beam to run flat below my Alpha V5/8. Just wondering if anyone besides Maco and Jo Gunn makes such an animal? I'm sure someone does but these are the only two I can find.I have thought about a home-brew but I ain't either smart or patient enough to build one so???? |

I have a jo gunn, and it works just fine. Of course I bought it used, and didnt pay the mega-bucks, but it is a good working 4 element beam. I know everyone is peeved off about the stats they write up on their antennas, but the antenna is nice, and a lot sturdier than my maco was.

Nothing against Maco. Fact of the matter is I have never used anything but Macos for base antennas. Just wondering if anyone besides the two mentioned above make flat side or single polarity beams. |

The thing about JoGunn is that they don't NEED to pull all that hooey to market their antennas - they make a terrific product. They are built like tanks, and every owner I've encountered was very satisfied. You pay more, but you get a premium product. I think word of mouth is their best freind, and deceptive marketing hurts them. I think it would be better if they marketed on their true strength. The outrageous claims really sour a lot of folks. |

they are well built,ill give them that. but you can load up a coat hanger and talk on it as well. |

I agree with you 100 percent highlander, no reason for the outrageous claims, it is a good product. It would have to be a four element coat hanger! Maybe you could use the clothes hanging rod from the closet for a center mast, haha

Bullseye !! I do have a Maco M104c and with the help of one of the techs here on Copper (808) he helped me get this thing going strong !!!!!! I will give you this little hint they are real touchy when it comes to finding someone !!!!

There are literally hundreds of manufaturers selling yagi, quad, and log periodic antennas for the 27mhz and other bands. Besides the brands already mentioned, just a few are: M2 (M squared), Cushcraft, Hy-gain, Lightning Bolt, Force 12, Cubex, Radio Shack, Mosley, Tennadyne, Fluidmotion's Steppir line...Copper has just started advertising here, on their website, a new line of yagi from Italy. |

Don't forget Wolf Radio in Florida has a nice line. When he can produce them you get a good product for a fair price and he knows his business too. He has an Internet site. Do a search and look him up. Be prepared for a wait though. |
