I have recently purchased a Yaesu FT-101Z transciever, it doesn't have digital display for the frequency. This is the old anolog style. I am presently looking to purchase a freq. counter for it. I have located several and will purchase one soon.
Now to my Question, is has 160-10 meters in it now. I have a crystal coming to give me 27.5 thru 28.0. When I install this crysal I just tune it as instructed in the mannal for 10 meters. Is the any other adjustment to be made to make this work well on 11 meters. I have owned several FT-101 series before but never the Z or ZD model. I have tried the radio out and it works awesome. It seems to do about 30-65 watts on SSB on the 10mtr area of the band. I am sure after I have it a while I'll be able to load and tune it better. But getting that out of it, for me is sufficiant for a driver fOr the rest of my equipment. Presently,I am running a COBRA 2000 w/extras/an old Blackcat Modulator JB-200B ON a A-99 it does and exellent job.I monitor 27.5750,LSB. Not to take anything away from the Cobra lovers, but the recive compared to the Yaesu FT 101 series is lacking. Just my personal experince , not looking to start a war of oppinions here. Anyone looking to make contact with me now to help me see the differnce in these two transcievers may contatct me on above mentioned frequency, most mornings ands late evenings after the 11 o'clock news. My call is #5 in the Ohio Valley. My 1st personal is Walter so feel free to contact me.(if you have the ability to make the trip) I aways use LSB on this freq. There is a small group of us that hang on this freq. One of my sister stations is 202 (PHIL) in Canton, Ohio. I have been in radio for 30 yrs now and enjoy it almost as much as my Harley Ultra Classic(not quite) I ride all summer thats why you'll never hear me when the weather is good enough to ride. I have put over 10k miles on it this summer and it too is equipted with a CB. But I can assure you it is not used as much as I'd like too, no side band...LOL... Well Happy Holidays to all. Thanks and looking forward to hearing anyone who can make the trip. ONE NOTE OF INTREST ALL MOBILES ARE ANSWERED FIRST ON THIS FREQ. SO IF THERES A LOT OF CALLS JUST HANG IN THERE...THANKS, .....OHIOBIKER
