Got my supply of 2sc2999 transistors and did the RF transistor mod ..... ( BOTH mods apply to lincoln too ) Results are in ! the 2sc2999 mod produced a 6 db gain. Before .4 uv moved the meter after to get same it took .2uv on a IRF 1200s generator. Noise blanker mod.... Schottkt diode mod it did seem a bit better ( i have a suppy of these too ) |

hey bruce, i did that same mod to my 2950. i was very impressed with the results. i dont have any fancy test equip. to measure the results, but my ears sure could tell the difference. just out of curiosity; could this component change also be done to Q8? this transistor is also a 2sc1674. what do you think bruce? would this be worthwhile or even feasible? any techs feel free to respond also. santa, i dont think copper will do this mod for you, but it is pretty simple. just unsoldering one part and soldering another in its place. i guess you should have some test equipment to readjust the two rx coils, but i just did mine by ear and it works great! BTW, also did the diode changes and liked thos results as well. matt |

Bruce, based on what you did, what did it do for your radio? More power, better receive, more frequencies or what? Just trying to learn here. Thanks!!!!!!!! Keith |

Hey Bruce, just for kicks, I did all the mods listed from the xl owners site that you sent me on one of my xl's. Everything works very well. One of the sites I've visited mention about jumping R196 to be able to lower the dk below 2w. I tried that one as well and it works. I'm going to try to change the resistor to a different value to get it down as well, I just haven't had the time as of late. Anyone else do that mod? I'm going to do my LT next. |

Better receive! My transmitter is STOCK ! not even a pot turned ....... it didn't need it! The 2sc1674 to 2sc2999 receiver RF stage swap works on the OLD 2950's the lincoln radios and the grant radios. As for frequencies It's got all 40 of them. |
