I have an old Superstar 550 that I fried on accident with my Emporer 5010 a long time ago. I am now trying to fix it to have a spare. It has one 2sc2290 driving srf3749s'. A tech told me awhile back that I could put bigger transisters in it. I am guessing the 2SC2879. I don't want to pay all the money for them and find out they won't work. Does anyone know if I can replace them with the 2SC2879s'?

To do it correctly you'd have to totally rebuild the amp (not cost effective). Just have it repaired and let it eat.
