I was given a cobra 29 ltd classic gold face,
the radio show's a carrier but it has no modg
someone cut the limiter d11 and i soldered it
togeather but it still has no modg (swing to its
thing) i think the audio chip is out of it. My
question is, is the audio chip out or did i make
a wrong guess, im new to radio repair and some
of the stuff is still confusing.
Thanks bushpilot169

is there any kind of audio out of the speaker? if there is audio, then the audio chip is fine. this radio uses 1 audio chip for modulation and speaker audio.

I have recieve, it shows about 4 watts on the meter, when i key it, but when i do audio there is no swing or modulation to it. that's why i
asked if the audio chip is out of it.

we know the audio chip is working, so you there must be a problem in the modulation chain before the audio ic. without a scope to trace the audio, the only other thing you can do is check to see if other parts in the radio have been cut, and to test voltage levels of transistors.

I will start checking for any other cut parts
and voltage's. I did find D 11 cut and I soldered
it back togeather, to be on the safe side I will
replace that diode then start checking everything.

Thanks for your Help
