Hello and 73's I have a Midland 77-285 mobile cb radio that I have been trying to find all the mods for, I Have also been looking for a Channel mod that is supposed to be popular for this radio although the one I found describes how to do it but the description that it gives doesn't match what I find in the radio, ne way if anyone knows the mods for this radio or if any can even be done, I'd much appreciate the info. thx.

Go here> http://www.smlec.com/cb/midlandmods.htm Scroll down to 77-285.
Never done one of these but this info looks like what you're asking for.

Those are cool looking radios. How do you like it? If I operated AM at all I would have bought one. They look a lot more like a 2 meter radio than a CB with their LCD display, and I like the bargraph meter - it's so large. Do each of the segments operate individually?

Here's another link for the modification and it gives some information about the different versions of the radio:

Thanx so very much for the info exactly what I needed now I can have the channels I need, Hollowpoint, The radio is very fun to use and is a great sounding radio, I was scepticle when I first purchased the radio as most of the newer digital style radio's are week in modulation, however this radio sounds very punctual somewhat like an amature radio, at least thats what most the locals say around here anyway as for the segments yes they do operate individually and seem to be very acurate like an old analog meter, I recently wired the radio with variable talkback, and after the channel modds i plan on rewiring the radio so that it will accept cobra wired microphones, ne way thanx again and I think I might have found a gem at a garage sale for 25 bucks, ha hope I find more gems, like this one....thx again and 73's
