Does anyone know if this amp is modifiable it does great just like it is, I am getting about 230 watts on high side and 210 on medium and about 180 on low, dead key that is I swing about 20 more watts out of it no matter were I have it, but was wondering if it was capable of more thanx and 73's

Since we're on the subject, what can i do with just minimal equipment to tune one (shooting star 225) to 51-52 megahertz? The SD 1446's are good to that freq, and the impedance is pretty flat. It's gotta be easy, just need where to go with the trimmer(s) and transformer(s). I don't have a scope, just a multimeter. If I knew if and how many wraps either way on the transformer it could probably be trimmed out on a power meter with the existing caps?.?.?

By the way you're doing good Barakuda, that's plenty out of two of those pills. I think it's a nice amp. It sounds good, it doesn't splatter, it's easy on my power supply, and doesn't bother the neighbors(or even my own family). I run mine under what you're getting, keying around 50, swinging around 120 - 140 (av.). Which may mean about an honest 200(peak) with a good loud aaaahhhhhh! I like the low power, it seems to act like a "modulator", as much swing as you could ask for.

Take care,
Znut

Hey guys,

It works on 6 meters but I would like to match it a little better. I hooked it up after I heard another guy do the same. I put the swr meter between the radio(5054DX, like 2950DX) and the amp and got a 1.5:1 so I tried it out. No where near the same gain as on 11 meters, but it works. The transistors will operate there, I just have to figure out how to tweak the amp.
