Bbmfic, To be 100% honest if you just got a 2970DX I would highly suggest you do NO mods to it as it will void your RCI/RANGER USA Factory Warranty. The Ranger 2970DX does not need any npc or rc or other mods as it is already designed to operate at 100% with no other mods needed. When you spend over $350.00 for a mobile radio you want to keep your factory warranty 100% intact. And Ranger USA is VERY VERY picky about unauthorized modifications and will void your factory warranty if unauthorized mods are performed should you ever need factory service or recdeive a call back for factory updates. My 2970DX is over 5 years old now and has never needed any additional mods of any kind and is still operating at 100%. Remember you have a Ham Radio that was and is one of the best on the market direct from the factory that needs no additional mods of any kind. Just my nickels worth. this should be the place for this, if not, please put it where it goes....the users manual on the rci-2970(old style, non dx) states that once the upper and lower scan limits have been programmed into the radio that those limits are now the Operating limits of the radio also...eg. the radio won't function above or below those limits at all with those limits set, either scanning or manual...this is untrue, it Only sets the Scanning limits...by using the vfo/shf buttons or the channel selector knob you can still tx/rx on All the channels that the particular radio is capable of...either that, or my particular radio is weird(which wouldn't surprise me)...just thought I'd put this info out there Sean CEF867 CVC81

Question on RCI 2970 GX 150. I just bought one and in the box was a small board with a three pin plug on a jumper. I would like to use the radio on the mars part of ten meters. I need to know where to plug the jumper to. It is not covered in my manual |
