Looking for help with white noise on 6. I'm wondering what mod's can be done to get the noise floor down. My Buddy has purchased a 9 and Omega from coppers now and both radios have almost no white noise. We are both truckers, and both running 102" whips on front of 40' belly dumps. I have put his 9 in my truck and get same result, NO NOISE. So I know its not my set up aside from radio. I have no knowlede of who tuned or how it was tuned. I'm hoping it is as simple as making some adjustments. Up for about anything at this point. So if someone could give me tips or point me in the right direction on the forum I would greatly appreciate it. Looking to buy a 9 or Omega for my truck, but would like to make a good radio out of the 6 for my pickup. On a side note my 6 is an older version with the 1969 finals.

Thanks Jerry

Hello all...just bringing it to the top...I was wondering if the S6 not being a SB radio could play a part in Jerry's problem.

Sorry but white noise cannot tell what radio you are using weather it is just an AM radio or a SSB radio.

Jerry, as your radio should still be under warranty try contacting Sam Lewis direct at:

I think what he meant by that Lon, is that it's been said that SB radios have either, better filters, more filters, or even both in them. At least thats what I've read. Thats the kind of info I was hoping to get out of starting this thread. I had already heard that, about filters, and if that were the case I was hoping to get info on where I could change things in my radio. Come on all you senior radio users there's gotta be something I can do. Thank you.
