This may have been answered somewhere else but as a new subscriber I have not found it yet among this forum. I have a S-6 and I must say I love the variable dimmer, my question is, are there any future plans to make this availabe on the S-9. Also are there any plans on the dimmer being applied to the knobs of the nitro models as well. I have used a friends S-9 at night and I agree with many others that even the low setting is just to brite. I would love to upgrade to the S-9, and though this britness aspect will not change that, I am still curious about this subject.

Thank you,

Jerry

Jdgwyo / Jerry,

Since I did not have the answer I contacted Sam Lewis for the correct answer and posted it below.

Hi Lon
At this time there are no plans to make the S9 variable dim.

All dimmers in the S series radios dim not only the CH, FC and SRF LED's but
they also dim the NX knobs.
NOTE* S-3 NX models have an internal PCB marked "DIMMER" 2 variable
resisters (VR) adjust both NX knobs and CH/SRF meter LED's
If the owner of an NX radio wishes to futher dim the NX knobs it is a simple
task. Experiment with adding a resister ranging in value between 680 ~
2kohms. The resister is added in series with the negative side of the NX
wire bundle.

Beginning this spring all NX models will have a switch located on the rear
panel that will turn off completly the NX knobs.

Thanx Sam
