Hi everyone, I've been off here for a long while now, just had a lot going on in my life, some good, some not so good, anyway, I finally remembered my login info and was really surprised that it was still active. Hope to get on the air and make contacts again soon.

thanks, good to be back, although I found out today that we have lost 2 great members, but it's good to be back all the same, seeing some of the guys that were active last time I was on are still around though, which is a good thing. The members here make this forum what it is.

Thanks for the warm welcome backs guys, it's good to be back. If things work out well for me I'll be asking a lot of ?'s regarding towers and base set ups by end of summer, hopefully but we'll see what life throws at me between now and then...lol.

I know this was started a year ago, man life can be crazy I tell ya...lol. Well I got out of the navy last year about this time, today is 1 year to be exact. Looked for a job for 3 months, now I'm living in alabama and have bought my first house so things have been pretty good although busy as all get out. Now that I have my on place I'm about ready to get a base going, anyone got any good on a good starting point. Looking at an omni, no beam as I'm sure how the neighbors would take to that...lol. Trying to decide between a simple " pole" or a tower, nothing huge, about 30 feet should do the trick...lol. My magnum 257 will be the radio there to start with as I'm probably going with an older cobra 25 in the mobile for now, it's cheap, about $30 from a guy I work with. Well looking forward to any and all advice

Hey George, do the nets still run on Sunday? I came across the few qsl cards I have a little while back and yours is in there, that was from a few years back though.

Forum hasn't been a active as it was a few years ago.
I will have to say the CEF nets are no more, but I think a few do stop by the bands at the old net times in hope to catch a CEF member.
A few of us even try to get the nets going again but it failed. James hang on to my card I still have yours. Welcome Back 73
