I was wondering if anyone could identify this amp for me. It is a single tuber (6LQ6). It is the size of a regular shoe box. It has a black cover (it might have been painted because there are red scatches on it), white face plate. It has a thin blue line across the front of it and the numbers "606" on the right hand side. Small green light on the front, right bottom side with a sweeping meter above the "606". It also has two rotary dials: 1) OFF, OPER, STBY, SSB. 2) TUNE. It does not have a pre-amp or fan in it.

Everything on the amp works. It dk's about 8-10W swings to 85W. The gentleman I bought it from said he bought it back in the 70's but I sure would like to know more about it and it's handling capability.

Wish I could attach a picture of it,... how do I do this Forummaster??

Thanks

Here's a 606 with this other equipment for sale. This is some nice looking old equipment, like to have the meter, haven't seen one like that in a long time.

OK!!! Thanks Scrapiron63!!

That's the amp alright! Mine is painted black on the top but it looks good. This guy is right though, it does about 85-100W give or take, I put mine on the ole' 2950 and was getting close to 85W with an old tube in it. With the Dak, he's probably topping it out at 100W for sure.

Scapiron- you know your CB stuff bro. You picked up my description like it was nothing! Can you tell me any more info about the amp,... Who makes it?,etc.

Also, take a look at my post for the Cobra 148 GTL Channels.... man, I'm having a fit with it, maybe you could help???

Thanks again and AWESOME identification!

Hey XLAXX, that was kinda strange, I was watching that equipment on yahoo, thought about buying it, but with my 'collection' really didn't need anymore. And when you asked about the 606, I remembered that one. I don't know who made them, there were several of those little one tubers that looked similiar. I had one named "Little Willie" that ran one 6LQ6, really a good little amp. I also had a 606 for quite a while. I wouldn't run over 2-3 watts keyup, and with these swinging radios it'll "talk" around 100 watts, sound great and run forever almost. I'll read your posts on the 148 and see if I can help, I've put channels in them both ways, off the chip and with the 'L' kit, but its been years since I've owned a 148. Scrapiron

Hey! You should buy that stuff! I like the meter. Anyway, how do I clean the contacts in the 606?
Also, how can you make the ping in your Browning Mark III longer?

Thanks

If I could quit buying Brownings, I could buy that other stuff. ha. I bought another Mark III today, really a good looking set, and it has the Browning 180 amplifier.
