Hello, I have a new Diamond SX-100 SWR meter. I did not know that it only reads PEP on SSB and not AM. Can I do any mods to this meter to make it read PEP on AM? THANKS, GTO |

Re 307... Per the ARRL product testing article shown below the model 100 is a PEP meter. See the quote below. But if you read the testing results the accuracy leaves a bit to be desired. The PEP meters with the active circuts (as opposed to inactive circuts) are more accurate. Follows is what I found.... "League Inc. All rights reserved. February 1991 QST Compares: Peak-Reading MF/HF Wattmeters (Coaxial Dynamics 83000-A; Comet CD-160H; Daiwa NS-660PA; Diamond SX-100; Heath HM-2140-A; MFJ 815B; Mirage MP1; Nye-Viking RFM-003; Yaesu YS-60) http://www.arrl.org/members-only/prodrev/pdf/pr9102.pdf 08/08/98, 694575 bytes "

It is a PEAK on Sideband , Average on AM. I opened mine up. Simple pair of germanium diodes. ARRL is wrong decribing it as a PEP meter for AM and SIDEBAND. 307 |
