I am surprised that there isn't more hooplah about the Stryker radio since it has become available for sale on Copper's site. No reviews, no good things, no bad things. Is it just not selling very well? I seem to remember a review of a pre-release or something, when a couple of Copper Techs took one out to a truck stop and played around with it, but nothing since it's release on copperelectronics.com Is there a review in the works? How about people who have purchased them from Copper: Do you like the radio? Is the UpArmored receiver really "all that"? |

Im4jc, Well I guess they are selling VERY WELL as Copper is SOLD OUT and waiting on the next shipment from Shawn. Try going to the: Manufacturers Questions » Stryker area of the Copper Forum and you can read the comment's from those who own and use them. Hope this help's, Lon Tech808 CEF808 N9CEF CVC#2 |

Actually, since May, under Manufacturers Questions >> Stryker, I can only find one person that has purchased the radio and has commented on it. The rest are questions for Shawn. That's what I mean by there not being very many reviews. Anybody buy one that wants to comment on the receiver? |

Reciever is very similar to the S9. The noise blanker is a little better and adjacent channel is better. IMHO...a Cobra 148/Grant xl, has better filtering than either of these rigs...they just don't cover as many channels. The stryker "must" be tuned to get the numbers they are talking about out of it. They do about 30-35 out of the box and converted. YMMV, hibuck |

Well, I got a used Stryker. I must say, it is very Magnum S-Series-like, but it definately has better ACR and the Noise Blanker is better. It is definately a talker, and the receiver is every bit as sensitive as my old S-9. The only radio (that I've owned at least) better is my Grant with the NTE583/2sc2999 mod, although I have to admit, it's very close. The PCB looks just like an M-1 Magnum. There is no low power pot...there is a place on the board for it, but it's absent. The one I have has the M1104 transistor, and all I can get without yanking the limiter is 40 watts PEP. The one way the it majorly differs with the S-9 is that when I set the DK for 2 watts to run my linear, it only swings 15 watts PEP. THis is good and bad. Bad in that it won't swing like a Magnum, but good in that it is PERFECT for my 2 X SD1446 itty bitty linear. I can, however, get 40 watts PEP with a 10 watt DK. I have considered swapping out the M1104 for an SD1446 like Stryker says can be done, but I think I'l leave it alone so that I can run my little Palomar knock-off. I also think I'll send it in for the MosFet mod. Anyhow, I've only had it for 2 days, but I'll let you all know more as I get to know the radio better. |

Oh yeah, one more thing. I have been constantly hearing "Dang driver, turn that big radio DOWN!", lol. With my RK56 and mic gain on high, there's no road noise and it is loud, loud, loud. Also, I simply love the blue ring around the bezel that is lit up by led's. I'm surprised, but, unlike my S-9, it's not fatiguing on the eyes at night. Later I'll be posting pics in the Member's Pics section of how it looks at night . |

Im4jc, Thanks for the post/review Was waiting for a hands on review....now I'm just waiting to see a SSB version. I think your right about the trans swap. That little bit is probably not worth the trouble...the linear wattage range also wouldn't bother me much. When I HAD (wish I still did) my S9 I had to turn it down to 25w swing to hit my little Pal 2 pill too. Even then reports said...sounds a "little" better. Best of luck with it..hope its all you hoped for! Oh...BTW...them RK56's are funny huh?! For a noise cancel mic THAT WORKS they sure do talk! Hank CEF5559 |

Yeah, especially for a big rig...lots of noise. With other mics you can see the needle jump from the background noise, but not with the RK56. I wasn't really expecting to like the Stryker as much as I do. I was just curious more than anything, and when I heard a fellow trucker on ch 19 in a truck stop asking if anyone wanted to buy a Stryker, my ears really perked up. He wanted $175, but I ended up trading him my spare NIB Grant LT instead. Since I picked up the Grant for $75, I figured I did okay. Get this...the reason he didn't want it was because he wore glasses and the blue lights were bothersome. The other reason was that he said it was overdriving his Texas Star 500. Weird, since I'm hitting my little 2 pill with it now and it sounds great. He's driving his TS500 with a Connex 3300 HP now (yuk!) Anyhow, I'll give it a go for awhile, give it a workout in 48 states, and see what I think of it after the love affair wears off, lol. |

By the way, here's what it looks like at night. The pic is a little fuzzy (it's hard to get a clear night pic), but you get the idea:

Well, I'm getting it aligned today as per CB Tricks instructions. Maybe after the alignment it will do a little more. I'll let you all know when I get home in 5 days what I think of it after spending some time with it. |

Update #1...After a proper alignment, the Stryker is now doing 60 watts, and my oh my what a talker. After spending a couple of weeks with this radio, using it every day, I stand by what I said above. Excellent RX, loud and clear TX, and I am still asked...every day...what kind of radio I have. Most haven't heard of Stryker yet, but trust me, they will. Stryker will become a staple in the cabs of America's truck drivers. My new Stryker slogan: "Stryker Radios...Porsche performance at Yugo prices." Update #2: I found the low power pot (he says sheepishly) |

MY STRYKER AUDIO SMOKES MY GALAXY 959 WITH THE DUAL 2312 FINALS & THE NPC MOD. I WILL COMPARE MY 497 WITH A DUAL MOSFET 959, 817 REGULATOR & TIP 42C AUDIO AMP IN A FEW DAYS . I KNOW THE 497 HAS MORE POWER BUT I RAN THEM BOTH AT 4 WATTS .I USED THE SAME MIC ON BOTH |

I have heard several of the newer Stryker radios (447, 497, and 655, but NOT the 955) and they sound just great! Of all the CB equipment I have bought, sold and traded over the years, the ONLY one I wish I had back was my Stryker 440HP! I really wish there was a sale on the Stryker 447HPC, because I would buy it in a second! When doing "A" to "B" comparisons of different radios compared to the Stryker 440HP, the Stryker ALWAYS handled bleed-over just a bit better than other radios (OK, the radios I compared it to were the President P400, which is basically a Uniden Washington, Cobra 29, President AR-44 (Same as Cobra 25GTL) and General Sherman (Same as Texas Ranger 296, which is the same as a Cobra 148, haha). Great unsolicited audio reports. Overall, a good radio. |
