Does anyone run this amp? What kind of watts will it do behind a 2990 as a driver? |

The XT612 is a low drive amp using 2 driver transistors and 6 final. The 612HD is the high drive with only 6 final transistors. With the app. 150w pep of a 2990 the 612 should easily achieve 1500w. |

How do they achieve 1500w peak? By suppling 150w peak drive @ 18v. You need to understand that solid state (transistor) base amps fill a niche of operators who want tuning free amp operation. If you want good clean splatter free etc, don't overdrive the crap out of the solid state amp, don't feed it with a dirty signal. Another option is buy an Alpha, Ameritron, Henry, Ten-Tec, etc. |

I have had the 60012HD and it is a good box I like the NO tune feature ,flip a switch and your on the air "smoking" the neighborhood, But they do splatter I have a 2990DX on an antron 99 about 36 foot up and it came through my cable tv and ripped up the phone. On a good note it was built like a sherman tank very solid industrial feel to it and with my 2990dx it swung over 1200w on my astatic 600 meters peak and contacts said I souded loud and crisp. I sold it when times were tight and am going to be ordering the 40012HD next week. |
