Hey everybody. I am working on Ham license with code, and plan on getting one of the President Lincolns to use on 10 meters. My questions is this. What would be the winning combination on hand mike for this radio? I will be using it strictly for mobile. And while I am at it, I have a Lafayette base station. 40 channels AM/SSB, nothing done to it, ( nothing will be done to it). I have a D 104 hooked up to it, the Sidebander version. Do I set the mic gain low on radio and adjust knob on mike or just the opposite? Thanks. PS. Anyone got an idea where I might have bought the D 104? |

Keithinatlanta, Well my thought's would be to use the one that comes with the radio first. You might find that there will be no reason to put another mic on it. If you are going to be useing it for mobile you might find you like the features of the channel buttons on the mic. I will be honest I Finally have a new one (Lincoln) but have not had time yet to take it out of the box. My HR2510 I bought new when they came out and have tried other mics on it and have always went back to the stock mic, as it received the best reports. If you find you "DO" want to add a different Mic, I would suggest the Astatic 575M6 as it has the External Tone & Volume contorls. We have found the Kenwood MC43 mic works the best on the Lincolns and HR2510's |

I tried a D104 "it blasted" and a handmike with crystal element It distorted audio". They both lost. Everyone said the stock mike sounded best good clean sound. |
