Hey, isn't the Compression Desk Microphone supposed to come out this month.

I need one in a five pin for my Cobra 2000GTL.

I know - I am not very patient

Sinker,

We have Submitted what we needed changed in the Microhone to the Manufacturer and are awaiting a FINAL Pre-Production Model for testing and then if everything checks out OK then Production will begin.

We are keeping our fingers crossed and hope to have them by christmas time, but figure 6 weeks shipping time from the Manufacturer to Copper ounce the first batch is produced.

OK then send me a 5 pin FINAL Pre-Production Model and I will test it to see if everything checks out OK

I would be happy to offer my lack of knowledge in this test.

Well they say that good things are worth waiting for.

Will they be similar to a Turner Mic in
sound??? I tried a Turner + 3 on my RCI
2995dx base and it produced to much Bass.
I'm interested in hearing reports on the NEW
Compression Desk Mics.

Sinker,

When they arrive you will need to state which Radio or Radios you need a Jumper or Jumpers for when placing your order.

The Microphones will have 2 ~ Chassis Mount (male), TYPE "CMC" OUTPUT
Connectors mounted on the Microphone that you will need to use a Jumper / Jumpers to connect from the Microphone to your Radio / Radios.

The Jumper will have a FEMALE 8 Pin Connector on the Microphone End of the Jumper and the Other End will have a FEMALE end wired for the Radio that you Specify when you place your order.

Road_warrior,

Well, after testing the Pre-Production Models here EVERYONE says the Mics sound BETTER than the Turner +3, Silver Salute and several models of the the Astatic D-104s I have.

I have been using them for the last several weeks on the Sunday CEF Nets and ALL Reports on the Audio have been GREAT!

Chad,

Right now we are awaiting the FINAL Pre-Production model to arrive with the changes / modifications that we requested.

As soon as I get it (hopefully this week) I will make sure it has all of the changes / modifications that we requested.

Then I will test / check it and give the Forummaster the information and when the Forummaster gives the OK, I will post a Picture and Information on it for the Copper Forum Members.

808 sorry we are being so pushy - we just have money burring a hole in our pockets to get this mic - heheehe.

Actually I think the others like myself are indeed very interested in what this microphone will look like and how it will perform. Sounds like I may be able to have it hooked up to my 4 pin TR 696F-SSB and my 5 pin Cobra 2000GTL at the same time - that would be cool....

I will try to be good and not bother you anymore about it - it's just that I CAN'T WAIT - heheehe

Yankee,

The Microphones will have
2 ~ Chassis Mount (male), TYPE "CMC" OUTPUT

Connectors mounted on the Microphone that you will need to use a Jumper / Jumpers to connect from the Microphone to your Radio / Radios.

The Jumper will have a 8 Pin Standard
Microphone Plug (female), TYPE "CBC"
on the Microphone End of the Jumper and the Other End will have a Microphone Plug (female),TYPE "CBC" end wired for the Radio that you Specify when you place your order.

This means they DO NOT come Pre Wired for ANY Specific Brand / Model or Pin Configuration of Radio as they will have
2 ~ 8 Pin Standard Microphone Plug (female), TYPE "CBC"
Microphone Connectors on the Microphone.

You will need to Specify What Brand / Model of Radio and Pin Configuration that you need when you place your order so you will Receive a Jumper that will be wired from the Microphone to your Brand / Model ~ Pin Configuration of radio that you are going to use.

When you order then will the cost of the jumper be included in the price of the new mic or will it be like ordering other un-wired mics where it is extra to have the end made up?

Outcast,

(1) Jumper will be Included when you place your order and you will need to purchase a second jumper if desired.

The Jumpers I believe will be 4' long and Straight NOT Coiled (if they are like the test jumpers I have been using) which is VERY NICE as you do not have to have your Radio / Radios close to the Microphone and this will allow you to have your radios on shelves and the Microphone on your desk.

Yes it will be GREAT as we will have 2 Jumpers wired for 6 Pin RCI and we can use it on our 2995DX or the Galaxy Saturn Turbo and the Ranger 5054 DX100 (6 Meter).

It will be GREAT to just flip the switch on the Mic and switch to different radios for the Sunday CEF Radio Club Nets.

We will also have Spare Jumpers wired for the standard 4 / 5 / 6 pin Cobra / Uniden / President / Magnum radios and 1 Jumper with a Modular plug for our Yaesu FT-2800.

How about marketing a jumper cord with no plug on the radio end, and the owners manual listing the wiring, such as Turner and Astatic did. Many of us like doing our own wiring.

UPDATE!

Well folks the final testing/reviewing of the (Pre-Production) models is now completed.

The final test results after the changes we requested be made in the design are GREAT!

And the Owner / Operator Manuals will be printed with the information we have requested.

The Microphones will be manufactured to the specifications that Copper has requested.

The sad news is they will not be here for christmas.

Production will take about 50 days as there are changes that need to be made in the microphnes to meet the requirments requested by Copper.

So I would guess the 1st batch will arrive around the end of Jan or early Feb.

THEY ARE WORTH THE WAIT.

As soon as the Forummaster gives me permission to post more Information & Pictures for the Copper Forum Members I will be very happy to do so.

Capt_hook,

OOPS!

I already have a Pre-Production Model that we use on the Texas Ranger 696F SSB Base and All Radios and it works GREAT!

I hate to tell you this but the 1st Sargant said I cannot order you one.

She said you are a BIG BOY now and just reach in pull that billfold out of your pocket and look in your SECRET HIDING SPOT in it and Pull those 100's and 50's you have hidden out and place your order when they arrive.

She said all guys hide money from their wives so we can pay for the TOYS we want.
