its not really the radios fault.just could be everything else.bad coax, jumpers, faulty meter what kinda antenna ya trying to tune to the radio?try different mounting locations, generally on the roof directly above dome light works good. please give us more info on set up 1]antenna 2]coax for antenna type 3]coax lenth for antenna 4]typer of coax for jumper and lenth 5]generally a swr of 1.5 is good anythinbg lower is great.a swr of 3.0 or higher will harm radio equiment dale/a.k.a.hotrod cef426 cvc#64

thanks 4 the reply, antennas are all Wilson. 1. the new Wilson Fiberglass No Ground Antenna Kit. 2. A Little Wil mag mount. 3. Wilson 1000 mag mount. the SWR meter is a 3in1 that i've had for a couple of years(from Radio shack). I recheck my other radio every no and then and the SWR seems to be ok..... i might have answered my own ? i have not tried the cb in question in my other truck. will do that this weekend. but i would like to get ant. #1 to work with this radio. coax is all Wilson equipment, except for 18" mini 8 to go between cb and SWR when tuning the antenna.. coax length is 17' if im correct. as the SWR i cant get it below 3.0 anywhere in the spectrum.. thanks |
