I have a clear channel ar - 2000 ( it resembles a newer model Midland ( unsure of model number ) but it has switchable frequency readout... am & fm modes only... interested in info on tune up and opening up the modulation...and also info on upper & lower am / fm channels. |

this CLEAR CHANNEL ar - 2000 is a mobile unit about the sice of a cobra 25 ltd classic, but not as THICK from top to bottom... it has led rx & tx meter, 4 memory channels ( unknown how to set program them )... 6 pin mike with up/down buttons for changing channels on the FRONT of the mic under the area you talk into... it has a nb, dual watch feature, channel 9 button on far right , button to change from channel readout to frequency readout, volume & squelch knobs are just above the mic plug on left front of the tig...channel sel is on far right BIG knob...am/fm switch .....led bar graph s / rf meter... tiny dc power plug in back of unit...no pa speaker plug, but external speaker plug and so-239 antenna connector... id for the radio is on TOP near the front...nothing on rear of radio or bottom of FCC id # or any mention of what company made it...the only id is on TOP..CLEAR CHANNEL CORP. ar - 2000 is all it reads....guessing it was originally a 10 meter rig but has been modified to use for cb... but who ever changed it took away the ways to change it back to 10 meters fm ...this might be a collectors item , but i doubt it.....clean on the inside... looks like some one added a few diodes around the inside of the dc power input...other wise clean insides.

Clear Channel (not the ones that own Broadcast stations, but the radio maufacturer) is no longer around. I had an AR3000 that needed repairs a few years ago and found that only the design engineer was still around. I havn't heard of the 2000, it must be an even earlier model. These radios were the forerunner of other CPU bassed 10m rigs like the RCI2950 and the HR2510. What is the freq. range that you can determine, for that rig? |
