Did you get the "expansion module" with the radio? Its' instalation will give you 11m coverage. |

The expansion module (sometimes called the E-key) should have been sold with the radio...shame on them! Not sure if Copper has them (I would think they might). When these modules are sold separately, they can demand a rather high price considering they are normally a part of the "package". Was this radio sold to you with the notion it was ready to work 11m, or were they up front about it needing modified? |

thanks inspector i found out the story about the way it is done & u can buy it for $20.00 shiped to your door all that was done was they installed the 3 wires & put a plug on it & coppers sent the E-Chip with it for the buyer to install it thats why the other 2950 DX were not modifiable it was installed by the seller & the buyer to install the chip thats whats in that shrink tape the E-Chip thats why when u bought one at a ham store it wasnt able to be moded u have to do it yourself or have the seller do the mod for it & there is a site that shows u how to do the mod it is very very easy to do if u know how to solder good but thanks for the help its not expensive at all $20.00 to your door & a little of your time not to expensive |

Oh, the three-wire pigtail now has to be soldered in-place in order to accept the plug-in E-key? They just keep making it harder and harder. I would be interested in the pigtail installation steps. I have tried reverse-engineering the E-key to no luck, as it is double sided, SMT, and markings ground-off. It is good to hear that the price has moderated for a replacement E-key. |
