Distorted modulation. Bad reception. I bought this radio for $7 at a yard sale. I tested it using 4 mics, 3 antennas and no luck. It's a sharp looking radio. Would love to be able to use it. I looked inside. There is no sign of any mods or mess on the board. Looks clean. Any ideas would be great.

thank you. mike

Try downloading the manual off the internet.
When you say that the modulation is distorted...well yeah, it's a cb, a lot of people love to run their rigs with tons of audio (as the call it) but it's really distortion. When you say theres no recieve is it just weak, because a lot of cb's have pretty crappy recieve when they come stock. Anyway let me know how it works out.

What do you mean by bad reception does it have very low recieve or are the signals strong enough but sound rough , if it is the latter it is possible it might need realignment as it might be off frequency . Does it still sound distorted when the ESP2 is switched off as I had a couple of radios with the ESP2 feature and found they sounded BLOODY AWFUL with it switched on .

thanks for getting back to me. the deal is, when i key the mic and speak it is garbled. i could be 5 feet or 200 feet. when i key my cobra and speak, it sounds garbled through my midland. my cobra runs flawless and clean.
sorry about the way i described it. that no audio problem is with my 2950's. both of them.
i thought maybe someone had tried to modify the midland. it sound off. do not know if it is worth sending into a tech. the radio is around $120 new or something like that. tech's are not cheap around here. thanks. mike
