im looking online right now, but i dont think that chip is modifiable. the PLL in this radio is a LC7113. the only other radio that uses it as far as i can tell is the TRC480 which is probably the mobile version of this radio. it looks neat though; kinda like a scanner. i wouldnt pay too much for it. the info i have at the moment is this: TX power-L6, L9, L10. AMC-VR13 ALC-VR5 AM power-VR14. i'll look in some other places and post what i find. matt |

al, i did find a channel conversion for this radio! also a slide coversion and a tune up. i cant type out the mod, as it is too long and if i mistyped something, it could ruin your radio. the mod is in SECRET CB VOLUME 10 on pages 32-34. looks to me like the hardest part is removing all the screws and connectors to get the thing apart! they explain how to do all this in the book. if you cant find a paper copy, you can get all 29 volumes on CDROM for about ten bucks on the auction site. the guy who sells them is hardtimez99. since you like older radios; these would be a great resource for you. hope this helps, matt PS, always read a later volume to check for corrections. secret CB is kind of known for having typos in it. |

I had 2 459's. The 480 is the mobile version of the same board. The 459 has some issues on tx, the meter also gave wierd, jumpy readings. Other than that, Very well built and microprocesser controlled. The ultimate mod guys would really appreciate the in-ards I'm sure. These radios were very expensive when new. |
