Hello all, just joined a few days ago and am finding I like it here. I just bought a new 2970dx ( wishing I had got it from copper ), anyway took it home and found the modulation not turned up. I got that fixed but I want to know how much dead key is to much high and low to set internally. When at 5 watts it is over modulating. I can adjust with external knob and it sounds great. So I know I need to raise low key up to what I am at now set at ( i want to make it my low end setting and maybe raise high a bit too. It is doing 150 am and 180 ssb. Thanks, Bob |

Hi Dale, Thanks for the responce. I will try those settings to see how it goes. No it isn't 150 dk that is swing on am. 180 swing ssb. I put it on a meter last night to see what wattage it is set at to sound good and it is about 35w/dk am. My hight is set at about 50. The low is at 5. The 35 is set using the knob on the radio. I'm wondering if the "tech" that set it up played in the transmit section and got it a little off and that is the cause of the muffly transmit at 5 wattdk. I guess I'm wondering if all else is running a 35w/dk as a low setting going to harm the radio, the high setting is only used when I go to ssb so is it any harm to bring it up higher as well. Thanks, Bob |

u want to set it so amp is off when power setting is turned to lowest point. then you'll have to cut mic gain down and it will sound very good. we did that to mine and it made it sound a lot better. tony cef 259 |
