Review & Comments:
This is a Very Nice Looking Desk Microphone. It is 2 1/2 inches shorter than the D-104 Desk Microphone. It has a UNIQUE Attractive Design 8 sidded (Stop Sign)Appearence & Head.

Although it is 2 1/2 inches shorter the the D-104 it does have Substantial Weight to it. And there is no need to cut up a D-104 to get the "SHORTY LOOK" and it comes Pre-wired with a Four Pin Mic Plug wired for Cobra / Uniden / Texas Ranger.

BUT! with the NEW WORKMAN MICROPHONE ADAPTERS that COPPER NOW has in Stock, it will fit most any Radio without re-wiring. After having this NEW Desk Microphone on Display and hooked up for almost 5 weeks now in our shop we have given it a good testing and had the opportunity for over 200 people to view and test it and get their responses.

Their responses were very favorable, Most thought the (Stop Sign) look was NEAT/COOL. They liked the weighty feel of it and when testing it likes the Crystal Clear Audio.

A lot of the people who owned D-104's really liked the Size difference in this New Desk Microphone, with it being Shorter in Height by 2 1/2 inches.

Several people have asked if this Microphone has the same GUTS as the D-104's and if the Heads are interchangeable. Well after disassembly of the Silver Salute to check these things out I found that the Main Boards in both are similar, but the Silver Salute has a Newer updated board with newer style electronic componets.

The Microphone Heads are interchangeable, BUT! the Microphones are wired totally different. So just swapping the Heads will not work, without rewiring the complete Microphone. Both Microphone's still use the SANDWICH type relays for switching.

"MY" over all opinion of this New Desk Microphone is that it will become a very popular Microphone and with it's Reasonable Price, it will quickly become a Favorite of many of the Operators out there, BOTH Male & Female.

Shirley's View:
Here is My wifes "EXPERT OPINION" of this NEW Desk Microphone as it is Now permanently installed on HER 696F SSB Base Radio.

She is 5'2" tall so she loves the SHORTY LOOK and likes that it is 2 1/2 inches shorter than her Night Eagle. This allows her to talk and be comfortable without having to reach out and tip her Night Eagle over to talk on it.

She has a very soft voice and has received many complements on the difference that this Microphone makes in her voice being Very Clear, Natural, Understandable, and LOUD! After hearing her talking on it from our mobile I have to agree with her 100%.

And she loves the High Quality Audio sound on Talk Back with this Microphone. She also like's the 8 Sided (Stop Sign) Base and Head and say's it is much more secure / stable sitting on her desk and does not tip over as easy as her Night Eagle did if she bumps it.

She also likes the Three sided Pusk to talk Bar on the Base which is larger than the one on her Night Eagle.

Conclusion:
So Fellow Forum Member's you now have my Tech Opinion of this NEW SILVER SALUTE DESK MICROPHONE and then you have my Wife's "EXPERT OPINION" on this Microphone.

But the One thing we both agree upon is that on a scale of from one to 10 this NEW SILVER SALUTE RATES A 10+ for it's UNIQUE STYLE, PERFORMANCE, and LOUD / CLEAR AUDIO.

Since Astatic quit making the D-104's there has been a VOID for a Reasonably Priced (COPPER PRICE $89.99), Good Looking and Performing Desk Microphone.

Well Folks the VOID has now been filled!

By using the "NEW WORKMAN MICROPHONE ADAPTERS" that COPPER CARRIES we were able to test this microphone (without re-wiring) on Several of our President / Uniden Washington Bases, Our HR2510, 2995DX, 2970DX, (Her)696F SSB, a Teaberry Stalker 202, a Radio Shack 495 Base and a Cherokee CBS100 Base along with customers radios that they brought in.

All with EXCELLENT RESULTS on AM / FM / SSB!
