I just purchased a Ranger 2950dx radio and have a Antron 99 antenna with ground plane kit up. I am going to purchase a amplifier. What would be a good amp to go with this radio and antenna. It will be used mostly for SSB. Also cost must be considered. Would like something in the 200 to 350 output range. Any suggestion would be appreciated.

Don, don't get into any hurry. Work what you have for a while and shop and ask questions about a good amp. What kind of power supply do you have to support the radio and the amp? That amp may pull as much as 20 amps, maybe more, by itself.

Get that A99 up at 25+ feet and you will be surprised at the DX results you will get. That 2950DX should be strong enough to make a good skip signal that will get through.

The GPK is your choice but you do not need one on these antennas to make them work just fine.
