Do you have a radio to go bag ?
I mean a bag that has your emergency gear to take if you have to leave your home? If you do ....whats in it and why and what kind of bag is it?

Mine is made up in an old carry on bag. Now mine may have some stuiff that your's may not need as when I have to grab and go I am heading out to an emergency and may not be back for several days..
2 sets Charged batteries for both handheld
2 Dry Cell Battery Packs to suit handhelds
1 2m portable wire antenna
1 70cm wire antenn
1 dual band 2/70m antenna with mag mount
1 roll 30ft RG58
1 Box of coax adaptors
First Aid Kit
Box of Power Bars (for me)
Pack Butter Scotch candy
Several packas Chewing Gum
Soldering Iron
Screw Drivers
Nut drivers
Electrical tape
Duct tape
Coax Seal
Loose change (abt $5.00)
Spare Cloths
Not in bag but where they can be grabbed as needed I have
2 75Amp Hour Gel Cells (charged)
1 drum with G5RV and 50ft coax
Several 25ft lengths of rope
Jumper Lead (in car)

Nice Bag! What type of portable batteries you use?
I want to be able to take my yaesu 2800m and use it as a portabe radio. I cant seem to find a battery pack that will run it. It uses 0.7 amp on rx and 4 amp on low(5watts) Can you guide me to where I might find such a pack?

Earnie,
On Field Days or when we are out fishing I just use a 12 Volt motorcycle battery.
I use a 12V spare pigtail from the battery to the radio and that lets me unplug the radio from the truck and plug it into the battery pack in the cooler bag.
I just bought a small nylon cooler bag (waterproof) at walmart to hold our FT-2800M and Battery.

I have a couple of of MK brand Gel Cells and a small float charger for them that I got from a local discount tool shop.
The contents of the bag has developed over 15 years of working for Emergency Services on a 24/7 Standby Roster (one thing I do not miss from my Aussie days). Looking at the list I noticed I did miss the box of spare crimp connectors and fuses.
