I am seriously interested in a 6 meter radio for my shack. I already have a vectronics 3 el. yagi, and I'm considering a 6 meter ringo for FM(how 'bout a j-pole Bruce?). I would love a multi-band, multi-mode radio like an IC-706MKIIG or TS-2000 but I just can't afford it. If the ranger is much more stable on ssb than the 2950/2970 used to be, I'm there!

ZNUT TREAT YOUR SELF TO THAT RANGER I bought one of the first and mine is as good as my yaseu. THE ONLY picky thing i could say is it has a fixed bandwidth BIG DEAL! on 6 99% of your stations are on SSB or FM and YES! on that J pole as timex said takes a licking keeps on ticking . I have had NO stabilty problems on 6 of course it is stock **** radio for 300 bucks

Thank you, Bruce, for your reply. It's OK that it only works on the band in my case. I'm just enchanted by the magic band. I used a friend's rig for a short time 1 1/2 years ago and was hooked. I love 2m, just some repeater "clans" are difficult to get used to. Mainly, I love ssb and the fact that so many forms of propagation work (some not so often, I know) on 6m and the freq is high enough to make antennas manageable, size-wize. I put my e-mail on this post.
Take Care, Randy
