How big of a power supply would I need for a 2950DX or 2970N2 ? Would a 35amp be large enough for the 297ON2? |

--Yes, it should be. On Ranger's website, it lists the RCI-2970N2 as requiring 32 amps (that's at the radios highest output). However, you might consider getting a larger power supply, just to have a little leeway in case you ever want to add anything else to the power supply. If getting a Tripp-Lite, and don't mind spending a little more money, get the 40 amp. continuous, 50 amp. surge unit that can be seen here: http://www.copperelectronics.com/cart/product_info.php?cPath=58&products_id=132 |

Thank-You Mayor513. I looked on the Ranger web site. They have different numbers on the ones with the green back lite then the ones with the new dark back lite. Iam like you, I think the
40/50 would be the way to go. Thanks again! |

i like the 60-70 amp the more the better with the extra amp's you could hook up more,like 2 radio's and use them one at a time,follow Jesus. |

--If the 2970N2 is anything like my amateur radios, it might actually draw less than 32 amps. For instance, I used to have a Yaesu FT-100, and I currently have a Yaesu FT-857D. In the operating manual, it reads "22 amps" current draw, but both radios in FM mode at full 100 watt output really drew/draws around 18-19 amps...not a huge difference, but it's a little bit easier on my power supply.
--Have fun with your 2970N2. I have the 2950DX and wish I had gotten the 2970N2. Even with the stock microphone, I have gotten several unsolicited, good audio reports. Fun little radio. |

the 50 amp will work. but the 60 will give ya extr breathing room.

I always say that bigger is better. If it was me, I would buy the biggest one I could and then maybe down the road, I would not be buying another.
