I'm a greenhorn to the radio hobby. I have been a truck driver for many years and cb "user". Also former Marine. I really enjoy this forum. The amount of information is astounding. I love the fixing, modding with the radios and other equipment. I am one of those over achieving perfectionests who believes if you want something done right educate and do it yourself. Not to mention its usually cheaper! Anyway I'm trying to get full on in this hobby. I've already begun to educate myself, have acquired a good bit of test subject radios and amps, books and other literature. Also trying to get my test bench set up. And in the beginning phase to start studying for a ham stamp! What I need is someone willing to teach/work with and guide me. Pass on the right way to do what we love to do. I have spent hours and hours reading, searching, reading, this forum and others. I find modification and other how to info. But most of it is incomplete to me. Lack of knowledge and experience on my part I guess, but I would like someone to take me under their wing and communicate with me all the "Correct" information for the project at hand. There are enough screwdriver hackers out there already and I refuse to join that club. I'm easy to get along with and a quick learner. I'm taking this very seriously so I prefer someone with close to same mindset. I like to have fun and have a good sense of humor. I guess what I'm saying is I dont have time to get messed around. If there is someone here that has the knowledge, wisdom, time, and willingness to do this I promise your efforts will not go to waste. I have not found anyone in the east tn area that has what I want yet so I figure I need to reach out. Thanks for reading and consideration. Look forward to meeting some of fine folks on the airway soon. Have a base setup just not operational yet.
