When it comes to CB equipment and/or repair , tell me...

Goof-ups , This sucks...

I worked on a radio last week for over two hours tracking down an audio problem. I tracked it all the way from the input to the final. I could not find why it was not working and I am the type person that never gives up. I replaced at least 12 components. About midnight I finally went to the fridge and grabbed a Sprite. On the way back into the shop I happened to look at the front of the Cobra 148...Guess?...See who gets it first...

Please tell me your favorite goof up...

Checking swr with a bud over and over again and getting all kinds of readings, stumped. Then he said does it make a difference if I have my thumb on the field strength plug,I looked and said "OH CRAP"! We spent 1.5 hours on a 15second job.

DONT FEEL BAD I'VE DONE MUCH WORSE. WHILE WORKING ON A CHEROKEE CBS 1000 WITH THE COVER OFF, I REACHED OVER TO GRAB A SCREW DRIVER AND FORGOT ABOUT THE METAL SCREWDRIVER THAT WAS ON TOP OF THE COVER AND IT ROLLED LIKE IN SLOW MOTION INTO THE RIG. ALL I SAW WAS A LITTLE SMOKE AND THAT REAL BAD SMELL (YOU GUYS KNOW THAT SMELL) AND IT TOOK OUT THE VOLTAGE REGULATOR AND FINALS AND BELEIVE IT OUR NOT THE CHIP WENT AS WELL. I WISH I HAD THAT ONE TENTH OF A SECOND BACK.

Ocasionally another driver will use my truck. The last guy turned the rf gain down,I leave it all the way up.I was sure he had ruined my antenna by hitting it on a tree or something,I had no ears whatsoever!2 days later I figured it out! duh!!

Doing a complicated in-dash mount (not under it) in a Mustang 5.0 once I couldn't figure out why I had no ears, no transmit, etc. Coax wasn't connected. Back out it came!

So i closed it back up and the next morning asked him " What happened to it???? " Well he tells me he found a shaver cord would fit the power plug so he pluged it into the wall ...... yep some people you wonder how they suvived childhood
