I got this radio a week ago and loving every minute of it. Great recieve great transmitter and it actually stays on frequency with no drift on ssb. I have been talking 27.660 lsb with no complaints from anyone. |

Ok talking on 27.365 lsb with a local group a guy several miles from me noticed some garbling in my transmit and shortly after that came a major power loss was 60 Watts on ssb now its 9 watts. The rear of the radio was extremely hot to the touch. I thought it was a swr problem but 1.2 cant be bad enough to harm the radio. Antenna was set with a Mfj tuner that has been recently sent in for calibration . Any ideas? On what could have caused the finals to go out? |

radio tuned too high these new mosfets dont
like to be pushed much beyond factory specs
2] bad coax,bad jumpers, bad connectors
id test all my coax for continuity if thats all
good ,then id see if manufacture will fix it if
its under warranty.what kinda antenna you using
on 11meters that needed a tuner?

Sorry it was a mfj antenna analyzer sorry bout that. The antenna is a wilson 5000 mag mount. Wasnt pushing it very hard. 4 watt dk 22 watt swing. Sent it back to the repair center . Waiting on the call to tell me if its covered. |

a 1.2 swr on a mfj antenna anylizer is really good.
sounds like the radio was overtuned and blew out a driver and or final, which would explain the power loss

Sorry it took so long to get back on and post the cure for the problem. The repair center contacted me the day they received the radio and the final section was replaced free of charge I was more than happy to pay the $14 shipping. Now everything is good but for some reason the swr spikes on LSB and kills transmitter. Sooo problem fixed by turning the alarm off.(I know that's not the safe way to handle the problem but all is still good). 73's |

ok that tells me there MIGHT be a variable adjustment for the swr meter inside the radio
thats cranked to the max. so try lowering
the output on ssb on the rf knob on outside of
radio. it may help. this is why i dont trust
built in meters there often never tuned correctly
