I am for several reasons "legally" classified as disabled. I push myself to work full time (minimum wage) so that I have a roof over my head and food to eat. Despite meds and therapy, by my weekend I am a wreck more weeks than not.
Because I push to work, I do not qualify.
Gotta love it, damned if I, and damned if I dont

I was in the same boat, two back surgeries, blown knee, neck spurs, 2 heart attacks, five stints, 7 surgical sites on one shoulder and they denied me twice for SSD and SSI. I GOT A LAWYER! A MEAN ONE. If you go that route you could be 6-12 months before winning but if I remember you lose a few months on the settlement but you could get a settlement on both SSI+SSD by filing for both, I did.
Or, get a box trailer, an AC unit, test equipment, some parts, inventory and park at a truck stop.
