Mine was a Johnson Messenger 250, Sure would like to find one in good con. but those on Ebay that work are too much for me. Mine cost $89.new at a Lafayette shop in Norton Va. In early 70s. My dad bought it for me & I only used the stock mic & I was hooked on radioing from then. Remember my second call sign- kacl3195 |

Mine was the Johnson Messenger 223. I then bought a used Pierce Simpson Bengal. I should say my dad bought me this stuff. |

My first was a white face johnson. Put in a "black tube" which was a hotter tube, later added a +2 mic and was a big dog. Lol. Bout 15 watts. Next was a set of Browning Eagles. Still have them. |

My first radio was a gemtronics 5000 with a little hornet box and an old star duster ant. Every time the wind blowed hard I was in the yard picking up pieces then I went to an amtron( the old kind ) anyone know where to buy the old and original Antron ant. I don't like the new ones seems like they don't have the punch the old one did |

A cb kit from some firm in CHICAGO, a super regen receiver and a crystal for chnl 19 and I think 11. My antenna since I didn't know any better was the tv antenna, but talked across town maybe 3 or 4 miles. Graduated to a 3 chnl GONSET and a vertical I made, great DX BUCYRUS,OHIO maybe 15 or 18 miles, I was hooked.

Technically, my first "cb radio" was a Lafayette three channel walkie talkie that had a whopping
100 milliwatts of POWER!!!!!!!!!!! WOW. I was 11 years old and thought I was on top of the moon. You had to be 18 to have a cb license and to be able to talk on a walkie talkie that had a humongous ONE watt of power. I kid you not guys.
The antenna whip was almost as tall as me.

My first CB was a Courier Rebel 23 with a Shakespeare top loaded antenna. This was on my '70 Pontiac LeMans (1st car also) when I was in High School in '73. I had bought Courier used for $90 and it still works! |
