Just wanted to say hello. I'm back on the air in Louisville Kentucky after a 15 year hiatus. I pulled the old Uniden Grant XL off the shelf and plugged her in. She's a virgin. Only mod is a roger beep I added when I was young and dumb. Never tuned or peaked. I'm running a dipole inverted v out of my attic with mixed results. I'm the highest house in the neighborhood - high enough that I'f most of my neighbors were running a99s I'still highr in my attic. But like I said...the ex is ok, but I'm not getting out. I'm assuming there are even few operators than 15 years ago and that may be part do the problem. I was wondering if there are any locals on this forum and where they hang out on the radio. So far my only contact was been dx other than a check on 19.

Will do Revpo, thanks for the reply. And sorry for the typos...for some reason once I type it I can't fix it on the iPad. Who knows. I'll look for you on 16.

After a number of years off, I finally dug out some of my old gear which consists of a CPI 2000 base station along with a HR 2510 for mobile operation.
Base antenna is a old Wilson Shooting Star which has been up since 1980. The mobile antenna is a Wilson mag mount which is in need of a missing weather cap. Can't locate one anywhere short of buying another complete antenna system. living in the San Francisco Bay area, very little activity anymore on the 11 meter band including the the truckers on Ch's 17 & 19 Some activity on lower 27.385 some local and some rare DX. just wish there was more activity, sun spot cycle 21 really spoiled me during the peaks of the 70's and 80's

HELLO, DOUBLE NICKEL (55) here. I will be listening for you all on the ssb frequencies you all had mentioned. I live in very mountainous terrain and down in a valley. I believe when the skip condition's start again perhaps we can make contact. I have not done 11 meter as much as I had use to but look forward to making the contact. Have a BLESSED DAY TO ALL ON THIS FORUM

Hi There, My name is Frank in Henderson Tx. I will hopefully be on the airwaves by the end of this week depending on how I feel to put the antenna up. I haven't been on the radio in over 20 years. I use to live in Ohio and when I was a teenager I had a cobra 29gtl that I talked to 8 of the local people every evening. Life happen and I got away from it completely and now life has slowed down so I'm hoping I there is a good group of people that I can chat with again. I'm finally about to go take my tech test for my ham operators lic. With no studing I took the practice test online and got a 74%. So with a little studing I'm sure to pass. Well thank you for the acceptance into the forums.
