Dale,( AKA HOTROD ) or anyone else. Dale I know you live in a valley with mountain's surrounding you. So my question for you and anyone else is have you or anyone tried to use a beam in these condition's with any problem's or have had good success? So what are the pro's and con's? |

I have concern about the very high mountain's blocking the signal. I have a beam on the top of the mountain with a very long cable. But, I am old and not as able to take care of it anymore. So this is why I need advice from other's what would work best near my home in the valley. Thank you for your help. |

i havent tried a beam . but pressman is right a fltside would work GREAT fr dx. it be ok locally too if others are flatside also.a sirio m-400 would work very well for local chatting.
a rotable horizonal dipole would be ideal if space is limited or if a beam on a tower isnt possible. sirio makes one called a d-27

Thank you Dale and all other's. I have been speaking with my local's here and to my surprise not many have use the beam antenna's. The few I have spoke to that had use the beam spoke of how they came across their neighbor's phone and tv line's. Some I spoke with do well skip wise but do not do well in some of the direction's because of the tall mountain's. Thank each of you for responding. |

yw- being most of ya locals told ya they dont have a beam. id highly recommend a sirio m-400.for local talking
