Base station not switching from DC to AC. Works on dc fine. I hook up AC cord and unit won't come on. Transformer has 13.6vdc coming out. I'm puzzled

Without a diagram it's hard to say and could be one of several things.

1)AC to DC Supply failed - you don't specify if you actually get DC voltage out of the AC supply at the point where it should feed the radio, just that you get voltage from the transformer.

2) The switching system that isolates the supplies has failed and is stuck in DC feed.
