Even the truckers have about abanded the CB, I travel near LOUISVILLE, KENTUCKY and today I heard no more than 6 truckers on. I also noticed over at a gypsum company, they had a fleet of new semi's, and not one had a CB antenna on it.
It is a licensed free band, anyone can use it, and it is free compared to a cell phone, for short distance comms. To bad.
I still monitor though.

Revpo I travel and drive it all. No more planes for me. But it is hard to get anyone to come back to you on CB radio anymore. Truckers still use them, but millinealls don't talk. They text. Hard to do that on a cb. :-)

I have been trucking 42 years and you guys are correct. Truckers dont use CB's anymore unless theres a big traffic jam. Keith is right. Millennials dont talk and maybe thats a good thing. lol
Once in awhile, I find an old school trucker who wants to talk. Up until a few years ago, I was freebanding on 27.465 LSB and talking all over the country but now, even thats gone bye bye.
I am a licensed, General class ham and even 20 meters band conditions are poo poo.
I run HF and VHF in my truck and can hardly find anyone on 146.520 simplex anymore. I've heard that the government can block HF ham bands in case the SHTF but they cant block the CB band because its such a short distance band. Breaker... Breaker.

I spoke to a trucker the other day about cb. He told me that many big trucking companies do not want cb's in their trucks. Then as previously mentioned many of the younger truckers don't talk cb even if there is one in the truck. They rely on their cell phones, qualcoms and gps's. Although the other technology has it's place, so does a cb radio.

It would be a rare signal of a CEF station, I have not heard anyone for years with a CEF call, remember the days of the SUNDAY nets, it was good propagation, and we used channel 13, always remember the FLORIDA guys saying here come the CEF stations...the good old days.

I heard a few sand pile stations on early this morning but the skip had died by 10 am, and only a handful in/out.
