Anyone stuck in a HOA, cannot afford equipment, use a remote station.
You have to have windows 7 and above.
Join the club, fees $ 1.67 a month, paid by the year.
IF you join fill out the application, copy and send it to the treasurer, look up his name /call/email on qrz.

Takes about a week, all VHF/UHF 10-80, and you have to download the remote radio.

That's....that's...CHEATING!

An HOA cannot tell you not to use an HT.

You could stand on your roof with an HT and a handheld beam and put out a great signal. Let's see the HOA complain about THAT!

When I was in college, I operated out of an apartment using an antenna snuck on the roof connected to the roof mounted HVAC unit's metal cabinet. If I had it to do over, I would have used a magnet mount instead of the bolts I used, felt bad about scratching up the HVAC unit. However, I had one heck of a signal.

When the wife and I were looking for property to build our home, the first priority was it had to be up on a hill or ridge, the second priority was NO HOA! Communists, in my opinion.

It is my understanding that last year our government passed a law protecting the ham operator from the HOA and now will allow at the very least one antenna and the HOA can't do a thing about it.
