I am one of the many people who own a Motorola CB radio from the Late 70's to Early 80's with a bad microphone.

I have heard a tale about how one can use the Motorola HMN1052A microphone for the Spectra radios in place of the TMN6119A microphone that came with the CB.

If you genuinely know how to do this please share it as I wouldn't mind being able to use my Mocat 4020.

Many of the Motorola commercial radios use the same type of setup with the first stage of transmit audio amplification taking place inside the microphone. Just about ANY Motorola mic that will work with a Motorola mobile or base built before 2006 will work.

I used to have a Motorola Mocat CB in a boat a long time ago. I used a Motorola mic from a Maxtrac on it and it worked excellent.

Somewhat related: I use a Motorola TMN1008C desk mic on my Yaesu 2m/440 rig in the shack. I do not remember the wiring pinout used, it was many years ago.
Your radio 'Mythbuster' since 1998

I have coming in the mail an ebay special Motorola HMN1052A microphone for a Spectra radio. I'll see if I can get it to work. If I can get it to work I'll post a how to on how to do it with the HMN1052A.
