Its to bad that there is no posts here for weeks. Just a few years ago this place was a buzz of activity. I do notice that when the sporatic E skip comes in there is a lot of traffic on the radio, both AM and SSB. Thank goodness for that. If anyone hears 567 northern Minnesota, that's me. I freaquent 38 LSB. 73 to all.

You know with the way radio's of today is made and everything is going with smt surface mount tech. there is very little mods can be done to radio's like we use to do. I would guess that is another reason why at times this site would seem to be a little slow.

I was one of those people who strongly supported staying home as i have at-risk relatives, in fact, i ruined a few friendships advocating staying at home. But as this thing progress, admittedly, i have some questions.

Why, if this is so contagious, did it not take over the whole world between November and March when we were not locked down?

Why are almost half the people being tested already showing antibodies when they didn't even know they had it? Did you feel cruddy in January? Me too.

Why are the elderly still dying in nursing homes when under the strictest of lockdown?

Why did the CDC numbers on pneumonia deaths suddenly plummet this year? Is coronavirus curing pneumonia now?

Why, if they know it acts like malaria and binds up hemoglobin, are we not treating it similarly? The fat cats buying stocks in antimalarial drugs before they tell people how good it works?

Why does my states' governor want 40k tests a week before opening businesses when, to date, we have not yet tested that many people in total?

Why is it ok to go to walmart but its not ok to go camping?

The Kennedy Center gets 25 million in covid relief and immediately donates 5 million of it to the DNC. My issue is that they gladly accepted your covid relief tax dollars for political gain. WTF?

Why is everyone crying about being out of work when there are so many help wanted signs out there?

Why are people using "so we don't run out of ventilators" as a reason to slow this when ventilators aren't working?

Why are we giving people that make +100k a year ANY stimulus money?  I get by on less than 10k a year just fine! Maybe they should stop living lavishly and save a few bucks, don't you think?

2/3 of small business owners say if this continues more than 4 months, they wont reopen. How many people will tanking the economy kill?

This isnt going away so why not keep the vulnerable (that now seem to die only from coronavirus) locked down and let this run its course through the healthy?

When the fastest vaccine ever made took 4 years to properly create, what defines "when this is over"?

I'm all for stopping the spread of this, don't get me wrong, but at some point we need to reevaluate our plan. Millions have it, many millions more already got over it without knowing they even had it. Its too embedded in society to think we can stay at home and kill this off when people in NY are blowing by on their bicycles wearing nothing but big smiles. If EVERYBODY in the entire world doesn't self isolate with 100% sincerity, this will keep going around and around nice and slow ~ just like the socialists looking to get free money want. Slowing it down isn't stopping it.

Anyone who wishes to attack me for this post should start by telling me your definition of "when this is over" and follow up with their plan to save all the small business owners like me who didn't see a dime of that shady stimulus plan.

Well, because people do not wear mask and wash hands it will only spread worse. This I believe will never leave us and I believe like the flu and the common cold it will be always something we have to live or die with. I have seen here locally people not wearing mask coughing not covering their mouth . Then I find out that they have the virus and they infect many other people. They do not have a cure for the common cold or the flu and I doubt there will be a cure for this virus. Also I have seen young healthy people get this and die. Like I had said in my last post common sense goes a long way if people have any and will just use it. For years when I use a gas pump handle or door handle I sanitize my hands and do not touch my face. You do not know if the people that use a gas pump handle or door handle have ever washed their hands. One time I forgot to sanitize my hands and I got deathly sick for a week. I don't forget now.

I was just wondering where everybody was. I have no idea why of how this turned into a Corona virus discussion. That was a left turn.
Anyway im a licensed ham operator and there is been lots of activity on the lower HF bands but as most here im really looking forward to 11 meters opening up. CB is where i got my start back in 1974 and i been hooked on radio ever since. I am really looking forward to cycle 25. Hope to hear from some of you when the band finally opens up.

You missed it a week ago. There was constant skip in the us from new york to texas into the midwest that persisted for about 5 days. I heard a little last night too, but didnt try making contacts. Mother nature has been lifting her skirt lately so get that radio turned on!

I started radio in 1965. I remember those GOOD OLE DAY'S well. That is when we had to have a license to operate on 11 meter (CB). We use to set up from 11:00 pm to 6:00 am in the morning to make our long distance contact's. Also back then there were no trash talking or cussing or filthy speech on the air wave's. Back then is when FCC enforced the law's well. Boy have time's changed. So for this post where is everyone. Thanks to GOD since 1965 I am still here still hooked on all my radio's and scanner's. Waiting for the long distance communication condition's to come back and looking forward to making a contact to any and all of you when possible on the radio. I still do 11 meter but I am a ham operator and I communicate on the HF,UHF,VHF band's and I do DMR as well. On HF I don't have an amplifier so I have to wait on good condition's for long distance communication's. So, to all on this post I wish everyone the best and may GOD BLESS

I also started on CB when a license was required, and I truly miss those days. Of course, I was still in grade school, so everything was still magical and fresh.

I remember when the FCC dropped the licensing requirement for 27 MHz. CB radio but kept some of the arcane rules like no communications over 155 miles, etc. I thought to my 12 year old self, "How are they going to enforce THAT?"

Fast forward to the year 2020 and the FCC has finally lifted the rule about talking over 155 miles on CB legally. Why bother now? CB is not what it was in the early 70's.

True 833, I think the FCC made a mistake in what they had done not to require a license. Now 11 meter is like the Jerry springer show. ANYTHING GOES

I think the big mistake was going to what the FCC called "license by rule". Sounds good on paper, but not practical in the real world.

When the CB band required a license, you could still operate temporarily and legally by using the letter K followed by your first and last initial then your zip code. Remember that?

It is my opinion that CB was fantastic in the 70's and into the 80's when almost 1/2 of the cars on the road had CB radios in them, and almost every truck had one. Many base stations were on the air, especially at night. Channel 9 was monitored over about 80% of the US by REACT members or individuals who just did it for their own reasons. It was really neat how it all just worked.

I'm not so sure that dropping the license is what caused the major shift though. I think people in general are different now. I think cellphones and facebook (and it's similar internet social networking) caused a lot of people to change the way they act, think, and live. Even the worst scoundrels on CB in the 70's were a lot nicer than the typical chat room participant or YouTube commenter today.

I am always here reading. I enjoy this forum because it has of course the best TECH'S and best member's of any site. Very respectful and educational. I am a General class Ham Operator and I enjoy 11 meter. Here in my local area we use 27.3650 as a Christian Channel Very respectful channel no filthy language of any kind like on other 11 meter frequencies. I am 66 years old and back in the day when you had to have a license to operate on 11 meter the FCC was very strict, no filthy talk of any kind was permitted. If it ever happened we reported it to the FCC. My 11 METER LICENSE NUMBER was KEC1228 My dad was KDQ5774 Those were the good ole day's.
